Cueva de los Verdes

This natural tunnel system was created between 3000 and 5000 years ago during a volcanic eruption. For centuries, it served the islanders as a refuge against storms and pirate attacks. As the first natural work of art and tourist attraction of Lanzarote, the Cueva de los Verdes was opened in 1964. Jesús Soto Morales has transformed the lava tube with his creative illumination and its technical implementation into a breathtaking experience. The path through the cave, which Soto designed without any noticeable intervention in the natural formation, is very impressive.
